About Northkayak
Northkayak was founded in 2012 as a kayak rental on Långholmen in Stockholm, and has since had a simple vision – to make the waters of Stockholm and throughout Sweden accessible to as many people as possible.
In the spring of 2012, Daniel, living on Reimersholme near Långholmen, felt a strong urge to get out on the water and enjoy the beautiful Pålsund canal. Having grown up by the water in Piteå in northern Sweden, Daniel saw it as a given necessity to be able to easily get out on the water and enjoy a few hours. The lack of an accessible way to get on the water, combined with a strong conviction that more people in the area shared this need, led Daniel together with his wife Samra and brother Anton to start their own kayak rental – Northkayak.
Today we are passionate about giving people the opportunity to get out into nature in general and onto the water in particular, to give people a break from everyday life and ultimately contribute to improved health and well-being. We believe that the combination of nature experiences and healthy exercise you get through kayak paddling is the ultimate way to enhance your well-being. For us, the nature experience comes first, and the gear comes second. We therefore want to make Sweden's waters accessible by offering the best products possible to maximize the value of the nature experience, without them costing more than necessary. We offer a wide range of kayaks, SUPs, and accessories suitable for all levels of paddlers, for both rental and purchase.

Havspaddeln – a brand developed by Northkayak
After running the kayak rental for a few years, we had tried kayaks from many of the major suppliers. However, we quickly realized that the cost outweighed the benefit, and we lacked the ability to put into practice the valuable feedback we received from our rental customers regarding the kayaks' features and characteristics.
We wanted to be able to influence and develop the kayaks to best suit our customer base (beginner to intermediate paddlers). After an intensive search for a kayak manufacturer willing to meet our needs, a couple of years later we found a factory where we had the opportunity to design the kayaks' appearance, quality, and other characteristics. Today we manufacture around 15 kayak models and even more kayak accessories – all under our brand Havspaddeln. Simple, sleek, and durable high-density plastic kayaks focused on high functionality at a great price.

Långholmen Kayak is our operation in Sweden. For many years, we have worked with rentals, courses, guided tours, and sales of paddling equipment.
Through daily contact with thousands of paddlers, we have built a deep understanding of what works in practice. All our experience comes from real-world use, in Nordic conditions.
Northkayak is our international e-commerce platform. It was created to make our products available in more European countries. However, it is the same company, the same experience, and the same quality philosophy behind both operations.
Långholmen Kayak is our base and our physical presence in Stockholm. Northkayak is our international venture.
Together, they represent over a decade of practical paddling experience.
Through daily contact with thousands of paddlers, we have built a deep understanding of what works in practice. All our experience comes from real-world use, in Nordic conditions.
