Do not forget your life jacket when heading out on the water. When you invest in a good life jacket, you are also investing in an affordable life insurance policy. Our life jackets for paddling are well adapted for both kayak and SUP paddling, allowing you to move freely and comfortably when you go out paddling. They are also CE-marked and approved according to the standard.
Only buy a life jacket that is CE-marked, regardless of model. It is important that the life jacket fits securely, comfortably, and does not slide around. This is actually more important than the exact weight printed on the label, as that is only a guideline. Life jackets rated at 50N keep the user afloat with a good margin and are suitable for swimmers weighing at least 25 kg. If you cannot swim or if the child weighs under 25 kg, you should instead choose a life jacket rated at 100N.
A life jacket that is stored properly has a long service life. When you are not using the life jacket, it is important to store it in a dry place, preferably hung up. Even though the life jacket should withstand saltwater, sun, and external wear, it is important to rinse it off after use. This reduces the risk of mold developing on the life jacket. Dirt provides a good breeding ground for mold spores. If your life jacket has dried for a day and moisture still comes out when you squeeze it, it may be a sign that it is time to replace the vest.
A life jacket should never be washed in a washing machine, as this causes the buoyancy to decrease over time. The best way is to wash your life jacket by hand with regular detergent in, for example, a basin or a bucket. Use lukewarm water and scrub with a soft brush if needed. Then rinse off the detergent before hanging it up to air dry. You must not dry it in a drying cabinet, tumble dryer, or any other heat-generating appliance, as this will damage the life jacket.
