A neoprene spray deck is made from a stretchier material that conforms to the shape of the kayak, creating a tighter fit around the cockpit. The neoprene spray deck is waterproof and is designed to handle rougher conditions such as choppy seas/waves or rapids. Many people find that neoprene spray decks feel comfortable around the body and therefore use them even in calmer weather. If you plan to roll or practice Eskimo rolls, a neoprene spray deck is preferable as it does not release from the cockpit as easily. If you are an inexperienced paddler who capsizes, you need to pull off the neoprene spray deck using the small loop at the front.

A transport cover is a full-coverage cover that attaches over the cockpit to protect against weather and wind during storage and transport. By covering the kayak with a transport cover, air resistance is reduced, and consequently fuel consumption, which is a great advantage if you are driving long distances by car or trailer. On longer paddling trips, many prefer to bring their cover to place over the cockpit at night to keep rain or debris from getting in. For winter storage, both outdoors and indoors, a transport/storage cover is recommended to prevent dirt and small animals from getting into the kayak.
