Versatile and easy-to-paddle beginner kayak
The Viggen is best suited to calmer water but also performs well in windy conditions (where a spray skirt is recommended). The Viggen's versatility is one of the factors that has contributed to the kayak's popularity. For beginners, the Viggen is an excellent choice - it is stable, easy to paddle, and at the same time offers great potential for those who want to progress.
The kayak's relatively short length gives you good feedback from each paddle stroke, which is especially important when paddling in streams, rivers and smaller waterways.

A durable kayak for the whole family
The adjustable foot pegs, used to steer the rudder at the back of the kayak, allow the kayak to be adapted for paddlers between 150-190 cm. This means many members of the family can use the kayak.
The kayak is made from HDPE polyethylene plastic, which is an extremely tough and durable material. This means you can pull the kayak up onto rocks or a jetty without worrying about cracks or damage.
Large, comfortable cockpit
Comfort matters - getting out on the water should be easy and enjoyable! The Viggen has a large and comfortable cockpit. There is relatively good freedom of movement for the legs, allowing for relaxed paddling, and the soft seat means you sit comfortably even on longer trips. The backrest is easy to adjust for a comfortable fit.

Storage compartments
The kayak has two storage compartments, one at the bow and one at the stern, with room for supplies and other gear for your paddling trip. Smaller items can be conveniently stored in the mesh pocket located in front of the cockpit. Watertight bulkheads between the hatches and the cockpit mean the Viggen will float even if the cockpit fills with water.
Easy to carry
Handles at the stern and bow make carrying the kayak straightforward. If you want to carry the kayak on your own, it is easy to grip the cockpit rim with one hand.
1-layer or 3-layer plastic?
Unfortunately, there are operators in the Swedish kayak market who mislead consumers regarding the quality of plastic kayaks. Whether the kayak is made from 1-layer or 3-layer plastic does not necessarily affect the kayak's quality, performance or durability. The plastic can be equally thick regardless of the number of layers, and different constructions suit different models and hull shapes.
1-layer plastic is more pliable/flexible and therefore more receptive to impacts and knocks. Well suited to shorter plastic kayaks.
3-layer plastic is stiffer and less flexible, but is often a better choice on a kayak longer than 5 m where increased torsional rigidity is needed.
The price of a kayak is never determined by the number of plastic layers, but rather based on the quality of the plastic and the kayak's components. If you have questions about plastic type, please don't hesitate to ask us. We have 10 years in the industry and have over the years sold many kayaks of both plastic types.
