Do I need a bilge pump on my paddling trip?
Fortunately, the bilge pump is not needed very often, but from a safety perspective it is a good accessory to bring on a paddling trip. Paddling a kayak that is full of water is very difficult as it is hard to maintain balance when water is sloshing around inside. It is difficult to empty the kayak on your own when you are out in open water. So whether you have taken on water through the cockpit via waves or you have capsized, the pump is a valuable safety accessory to have close at hand.

Easy to use and effective
To empty the kayak, place the bilge pump between your knees at the bottom of the cockpit. With one hand on the pump shaft and the other on the ergonomic handle, all the water can be quickly pumped out.

When not in use the pump is secured on top of the kayak or in the cockpit. The kayak bilge pump (also known as a bailer pump) is made from plastic and also features a float.
