Skeg and rudder – optimal control in all conditions

The Havspaddeln Sarek is designed to offer stability and agility, making it a paddler-friendly sea kayak for both beginners and more experienced paddlers. With a width of 55 cm, it features a hull shape that makes paddling both safe and enjoyable. The comfortable seat provides great comfort on long trips, and the easily adjusted foot pegs make it simple to customise your seating position.

The kayak is equipped with both a skeg and a rudder for maximum control. The rudder folds up and down via the rudder line on the right side of the kayak, where you will also find the skeg control.

Generously sized storage
The Sarek has three hatches – one at the bow, one at the stern, and a practical day hatch just behind the cockpit. On the deck there are also compass mount holes, safety lines, and elastic bungee cords for additional storage, perfect for longer trips.

Inside the cockpit, padded thigh braces provide extra support and contact with the kayak, improving control while paddling. Carrying handles at both bow and stern make transport easy.

1-layer or 3-layer plastic?
There is a common misconception that more plastic layers automatically means higher quality. In reality, it comes down more to the kayak's construction and the quality of the plastic.

1-layer plastic is more flexible and better at absorbing impacts, making it particularly well suited to shorter plastic kayaks.
3-layer plastic is stiffer and provides better torsional rigidity, which is advantageous for longer kayaks over 5 metres.
